“Anti Dadah Kempen”

by Tan Ker Shiong on Feb.27, 2009, under Past Event

On the 26 of February 2009,

When the talk on the multimedia course was over, immediately it was followed with a speech on drugs. Similarly with Monday assembly, the entire morning session teachers will have to arrive to the hall. Once the teachers have taken their seats, our councilor teacher ‘Pn.Liew’ gave a briefing regarding the whole procedure of the event. Then, it was followed by Mr. Wong to utter out a few words and subsequently continued with Pn. Faridah’s talk. After that, Mr. Wong accompanied Pn. Faridah launched the event.

Here came the main character of the event, Encik Priman who was from Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan (AAK) presented his speech and slideshow to the Connaughtians. In the beginning, his presentation was quite interesting as there was a slideshow showing many interesting pictures on drugs. Soon, it became boring. His speech was lengthy and monotonous. The atmosphere became restless. I don’t mean to offense anyone. I am not exaggerating because I was there.

The speech was like an injection of chloroform. Most of the students started to fall asleep. To sum up, although the speech was quite boring, but students could gain a lot of knowledge from the presentation if they were really paying attention to it. For example, they would know more about what drugs is, types of drugs and the effects drugs have on our body if we consume them.

It is very important that there is such talked on drugs and its danger. It will educate the students and let them be aware of the danger of misusing drugs. But, I hope that it will be more interesting and more interactive.

Sports Day Rehersal.

by ChinYung on Feb.22, 2009, under Past Event

19th and 20th February 2009 (Thursday and Friday)

“Skut, waspris! “  The commander of the Seroja House shouted.

“Green!” In responsSe to the commander, the cute form 1 pupils, yelled in full spirit.

Immediately, my friends and I were laughing behind them. Why were they giving such a weird response? I thought they should have replied it with ‘HAH!’

Well, it’s not good to comment much on them here.

For these two days, all sorts of commands for instance ’Senang diri …Baris Setia, ‘ could be heard. Right after the assembly, those who were taking part in the marching had to sacrifice their lessons for the two-days-rehearsal for the coming Sport Day. You could easily spot all the 4 sport houses and uniform bodies, queuing up orderly in front of the school hall, as if they were preparing for the Third World War following the second one!

I was one of the prefects who were taking part in the march on the Sport Day. After the leaders for each team were briefed, we started our rehearsal without any more delays.

The Red sports house (If I was not mistaken) started to march first, followed by the Yellow house, and subsequently Blue and Green house. From far away, sorry to say, I saw that they were not trying their best in marching, I think. Perhaps they are just form 1 students and do not know the importance of marching. Most of them, marched awfully. Some of them even walked instead of marched! (Walk=March??)

The Prefectorial Board was the next. The moment we stepped into the field, the muddy ground, which was caused by the heavy rain, began to swallow our black, shiny shoes. The girls started to scream. The guys complained. Though the condition of the field was totally bad, we were forced to continue our ‘journey of mud’…

The Scouts seemed to be doing greatly. Unlike prefects, they seemed to be more disciplined. I guessed they would not panic even if their entire body was to be swallowed up by mud. Perhaps they will have their punishment if they perform badly. Anyway, I admired their team spirit.

Team by team, we turned into the basketball court. Facing the hall, we all still needed to march till all the teams reached the court. Our legs got ached.

Eventually, we stopped after Moo Kah Kit, the commander, ordered us to stop.

Berhenti!”  His voice could be heard, even if you stand one kilometer away from him.

The Sun, still shining brightly radiate heat relentlessly without showing mercy. Sweat poured down, to our cheeks, stung our eyes.

Too sad, we couldn’t move. It is an order…

The emcees, Mr Hisham and Pn. Norasiah (who always is the emcees) hosted the rehearsal, and also taught us what to do when they said certain things.

We must also be alert in listening to the commander’s order.

‘Tepuk komander!’ Hence, we need to clap, when the Principal or VIPs spoke in front finished their words.

Led by Eric, the Head Prefect, we took oath.

Lastly, we were allowed to leave, and of course, team by team again…

Eventually we got to rest for a moment, admiring the girls’ “bom bom” dance, which was so sexy and managed to attract most of the guys. For the girls, they watched it with jealousy…

After the short rest, we went for our second rehearsal.

The sun, which refused to have mercy on us, burned our skin again.

What a day it was. But without it, we will not be ready for our sports day.

~The Unusual Monday Assembly~

by ChinYung on Feb.16, 2009, under Past Event

16 February 2009…

It seemed like quite a long time since we had our last assembly before Chinese New Year.

No doubt, students will be very glad if there is no assembly for a particular week. For some students (or perhaps I should say most), the teachers’ lengthy speech means nothing to them but a wonderful hypnosis treatment… SO, it is definitely easy for you to spot a sleeping prince or sleeping beauty during assembly. Don’t believe, you might have a try!

There is a new school rule in our school ——— Fellow students, take note. You must get into the hall at 7:15 am everyday! 5 minutes earlier compared to last year. Seemingly, there were still a whole bunch of pupils have not got this message yet… ==

I was taken aback for what I saw today in the hall. 23 cute, adorable and gentle girls were standing in front of the stage!  (See? I even count them…) It was an unusual scene indeed. I was racking my brain to think what’s going on when the ‘phwack’ sound was heard and this aroused students’ attention. The boys reacted to the canning. The girls were not caned but punished with other punishment, like running.

Again, Mr. John Toh used his lovely cane to kiss those students(Guys) buttock. It was really a terrifying scene! Students were trying to explain the reason of the lateness, hoping to skip from the punishment. Unfortunately, I have to say, they had underestimated Mr. John and most of them winded up with their buttock ‘kissed’

“Piack…”

But Students do not hate him, as this is his duty, to make sure that the students are disipline. They like him because of his friendlyness and he his very understanding, like a father.

Fellow friends, the school disciplinary board had already enforced this rule. Therefore, please be punctual!!

The highlight of the assembly today is the tag-giving ceremony to all the class monitors and assistant monitors. From Mr. Wong speech, all the monitors are the members of Majlis Ketua Tingkatan (MKT) [sounds cool!] The motive of having such a ‘majlis’ is to train more leaders in school and instill leadership into monitors. Therefore, after the prefects, monitors will be the second layer of leaders in our school!!!

Mr.Wong also listed out the monitors’ jobs. (For more details on monitors’ jobs, please refer to the blog below.) Being a good monitor is no mean feat I could say. It is a tough one. {Monitors, God bless you…} It requires a commitment. Without it, they wouldn’t have their jobs done well. Sometimes, monitors even have to hand in their friends’ name to the teacher when their friends do something morally, legally wrong and this might put them in an awkward position if their friends got angry with them.

Immediately after Mr. Wong speech, tag-giving ceremony was held and one by one, monitors received their tags from Pn. Radiah, the school principle. After that, the monitors had to take an oath so as to promise they will do their best and handle jobs given with full responsibility. The oath was led by Moo Kah Kit from 5S2.

Soon, the assembly ended with only the national anthem and the oath which was led by the Head Prefect, Eric Moo Hong Yuen. Since the tag-giving ceremony consumed too much time, they skipped the 2 songs which were supposed to be sung. . .

That’s all for this morning assembly, unusual morning assembly… For Form 3 and 5, All the Best in your Intervensi. Form 4, don’t be happy. Prepare for your turn. Monthly Test await you ——— 6 March 2009.

^^
