Great Speech from Successful People
by Lim Sin Ting on May.10, 2009, under Past Event
On 8th May 2009, Friday, 3 ex-students of SMKTC came back to our school to share their secret of success, ways of studying and also their experience in the society. They are Ng Chiew Wai, Chow Jun Kang and Shang Sin.
Three of them are successful people and did great work in our school, teachers admire them for their hardworking, leadership and kindness. Students take them as role-model in both academic and also co-curriculum.
Ng Chiew Wai had analysed the ways of study for each subject in upper secondary and shared his own study ways and preparation before exam. First thing he told us about achieving flying colour in academic is set on your goal and pour all your effort out.
He admitted that he is not a genius but a very hardworking student and good in managing his time. These are among his study techniques :
- MUST plan his study for exam three weeks before
- three weeks before exam, he will be studying for the exam subject of the last few days.
- second weeks before exam would be studying for subject that on the first few days of the last week.
- the week before exam, he will be working hard on the first few subjects of the exam.
**this method allows him to remember and revise things easily during examination.
- Revise the subjects that related or need to be done in the same way together.(e.g. Chemistry & Physics which need to be understaood and practiced)
- Practice, practice, and practice the same question or the same kind. If not understand, ask teacher or discuss with friends.
Shang Sin shared a lot of his personal experience in university and in the society. He had highlighted that actually school is the same with the society, just that things happened in school are in a smaller scale. Situation such as backstabbing and gossips in the society also occur in school.
Last person to give speech is Chow Jun Kang, one of our school’s top student in Year 2008. He scored 11 1A’s in his SPM and often appeared in the top 3 in exam in his batch. He also held key post in Editorial Board (Editor), PRS, PPS and Chinese Language Society. He was a respected leader and a role-model to other as well.
Chow Jun Kang had a very short and nice speech. He recommended many good reference books which is really good for students!! Some students really do not know what book to buy, Jun Kang just did the right thing. He also answered many question by the students. It was very kind of him that he leave his e-mail that everyone can ask him question, smartmashimaro999@hotmail.com as time do not allow him to share everything he had. Last but not least, he also leave his study techniques in written form to Puan Yeap. Students who are interested may get it from Puan Yeap.
As for students that show up yourself that day, I am sure that you got a very valuable lesson from all these successful people. For those who missed the speech, I hoped that this article more or less had helped you to know what the speech is regarding to.
Examination is starting for all students, another important reminder is not to burn midnight oil, so that you maintain your health and best condition to face the examination.
