Something new…

by Lim Ben-Jie on Dec.02, 2009, under Present Issue

Something new is brewing up in our school.

Something that will be part of our schools history for years to come.

Something that we have all been anxiously waiting for a long time.

Look at the pictures below and you will know what I am talking about.

Block D

Block D U/C

Block D staircase.

It’s finally up. The first, second and third floor of our new Block D in SMK Taman Connaught. (Well, almost up)

However, there is still a long way to go before the building is officially completed.

For now, we have something interesting to look forward to next year.

The completion of this new building will bring about massive changes to our schools system.

Our Bengkel Kemahiran Hidup or Living Skills Workshop will be remembered as it was once located at this spot.

However, something new will be replacing it forever.

The Disturbance: Block D

by Wayne on Mar.08, 2009, under Past Event

img_6418A different Perspective…

As everyone knows, our schools’ old workshop is under demolishing and a new building will be built at that location.

The noise, especially for block C students and those using physics, chemistry and biology laboratory. Do you think that it is an annoyance? The loud noise, all those hammering and building crumbling. Dust can be seen all around school. And a weird stench could be smelt from far away.

My opinion is, yes it is very annoying and it is difficult to concentrate on my studies. The teachers have to scream to let students listen. And when dusts “fly”, coughs can be heard and people closing window.
The class became stuffy and then when the stench can be sensed. You just feel like running out of the class. Its is clearly hard to concentrate or even try to concentrate in class with all these disturbance.

My opinion is that the renovation should be done during the holidays. Because the destruction of the building is the one that is causing the most noise and dust. But I do not fault the school as there might be some problems that need to be solved or work that to be settled in order of this project to start. The school has surely did whatever they can do to minimize the effects on the student during this major renovation. But, they also have to get it done in time so that SMKTC’s students can enjoy the new facilities.

Hopefully, the buildings will be ready when the present (2009) form 4s are form 6. This will make it easier for the form 4s to further their studies in form 6, rather then going through the trouble to apply for other school to enter form 6. Counnaughtions should be glad that our school pays a lot of attention to the needs of us, students.

We should really appreciate the school and also our Parents Teachers Association (PTA).

This post is not for a negative reason. It is to give your a different perspective.

A Tragic Story Behind the Construction of Block D

by JinMing on Mar.08, 2009, under Past Event

It’s a sad year for all form 4, except for 4s1.Curses, you are just lucky. Let me tell you why…

I’m sure everyone knows this, our school’s block D is under renovation. Cut the crap, I’m not here to complaint or what, it’s just a matter of opinion. My question is. Why now? This project should begin somewhat 1-2 years ago, and if you imply logic to this 1+1 = 2 equation, shouldn’t the construction work start in the holiday? Since when 1+1 = 3? What are they thinking or do they think? Since most of our school exam candidates don’t know about how we form 4 feels, I’d like to share some of my personal experience. *there might be something behind the delay that i don’t know.

Everything was fine for the first 2 days, until they start “bombing” the whole building! And it was unbearable. And you think breathing in carbon monoxide for awhile is bad, try breathing it everyday. The poisonous fumes are dispersed into the air. Oh, the odor, the agony! You might get cancer from this, just maybe.

There’s something about the noise I’d like to share, ‘ Sorry, I can’t hear you’. Everyday is like studying beside a modern warfare, except, you’re not hearing bombs, gunshot but drilling, humming, crashing. Oh, the pain, the sadness… Since it’s impossible to talk to the person next to you with a reasonable volume, you need to shout, or I say, CRY IT OUT LOUD! And, the teachers, they don’t have superhuman voice, so, somebody like me, sitting at the back, just wondering “what the heck is that guy blabbering about?”. Chaos, miscommunication. Absolute despair.

While struggling to understand what I should do, dust fills the air. Every morning, a layer of dust can be found on everything under the sun, while there’s some dust we can clean with tissue paper, and the rest, we clean it with our poor lungs. It’s like eating dust. Science says, pollution is bad, especially for the weak and fragile human being, and why do we study moral, civic and science then promote pollution in our own backyard? It’s like telling someone, “I don’t promote violence, I encourage it.”

To summarize the whole post, I’d like repeat once again, this is not a complaint, don’t flame me (in terms of insult, and everything offensive). In Chinese there’s a sentence that I can’t remember well, it’s something like, you plant the tree now, and then the next generation will have a shade to rest on. We suffer now, we might not enjoy the new building, Sad huh? We suffered, and at the end we get nothing but watching others living their happy life, curses. But someone else will. And if it isn’t for the poor form 4 and form 1, form 2, 3, 5 will not have achieve well in their exam.

But, I do hear that it might be ready for us Form 4s’, hopefully…

**Please don’t take the censored part too seriously, just fooling around. Or maybe?
