The Carnival Was A Great Success

We had a great time last Saturday. It was Carnival day. Many students, teachers, friends and parents attended the event to support the Carnival. From my observation as well as the feedback from students, it was a great success.

The school raised a lot fund from the carnival. Many people were very supportive by buying a lot of food and participating in games, especially the Haunted House. From the starting of the carnival till the end, there were people still queuing up to experience how scary was the Haunted House.  I predicted that the scout team, who organized this game, raised the highest amount of fund. I am not sure of the final figure raised by the entire school, but I know that my class raised several thousands of Ringgit.

This carnival also gave the teachers, students and parents the opportunity to foster closer relationship with each other. I saw most of them actively joining in games, having fun together and chatting to get to know one another. Students were working together as a team to ensure the success of this carnival.

This carnival was also an opportunity for the students to learn how to be an entrepreneur. Before the event, each class was given a task to think about what games and/ or foods they should come out with. In the thinking process, students need to consider their budget, the cost, and the profit target. During this event, students unleashed their potential by using strategies to attract customers to come to their stalls. Some used microphone/speaker and some gave promotion such as Buy 2 Free 1.

In a nutshell, the carnival was eventful and profitable. I would encourage the school to hold carnival annually so that we can continue to reap the benefits which I had mentioned earlier.

Regards,

Ker Shiong

SMKTC’s Carnival Day will be held from 8.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. on Saturday, 11 April 2009 which is a school replacement day.

The Carnival Day will is open to public, everyone is welcome to come and have fun, buy food and drinks on that day. Students will be selling delicious local cuisine, drinks, marvellous and mouth-watering food. There will be games like haunted house and many others exciting one awaiting you.

Maybe minority of students will be asking or wanted to know what is the purpose the Carnival Day is taken place. I hope that these information will answer your questions.

The objective of the Carnival Day is :

  1. To collect PIBG’s fund which will benefit the school and students.
  2. To allow students to practice commerce skill practically as they need to make profit from their business.
  3. To ensure students are having social commitment toward the society. The profit of each business run will be allocated 10% for the members who run the business while the rest will be given to the school. In this way, students indirectly did their part for the society.
  4. To prove that students who bought the token, show up themselves, run the business and support the Carnival Day are Connaughtian. This is a very fun way to prove yourself, students.

Therefore, students, please show your support and prove to the school that you are truly Connaughtian on the Carnival Day. See you there!!
